Adopt a new Approach to Make Money

posted by admin

Sorry the sound went out of synch with the picture, very ghetto but I hope it gets the point across.  What you see below is just from one half of a room, clearing out your crap is a great way to start the year, it goes hand in hand with clearing your body, your mind and making a new path to success.

The problem with using the scarcity tactic

posted by admin

Hi Troopers

If you don’t read this message within 10 seconds, the computer will blow up!  - Where have you heard that sort of thing before?? How about on nearly 90% of sales pages.  We are taught from an early (Internet Marketing) age that we should inject Scarcity into our sales copy, but sometimes it can be taken too far which can result in refunds…let me explain.Scarcity

In case you’re not sure what I mean by scarcity, I’m talking about when you see an offer and it states that you had better buy this today otherwise the price may go up tomorrow, or they will run out of copies etc.  This of course is effective because people don’t like the thought of missing out on a good deal or missing out on getting a product that others will have, giving them an advantage.  But be careful…

Now don’t get me wrong, it’s actually ok to use this to a degree if there really is a limited number of copies left, or you will close the site soon, or you really do plan to raise the price, but if your customers see that 6 months or more down the line, it’s still selling at the same price, then they may feel cheated.  This principle is also used for concert ticket sales.  I myself have been to quite a few ‘farewell’ concerts, only to then see the adverts for ‘the come back tour’ the following year.  Let me tell you where this backfired, in my opinion..

I recently bought a fairly expensive Internet Marketing product ($500) and it had this counter on the screen counting down from 30 seconds to 0 implying that there was a time limit for me to buy.  There were lots of other scarcity tactics at play too which was mounting the pressure.  The product sounded great and I wanted it but I already spent quite a lot on products recently.  In the end, with 3 minutes to go, I thought I’d better buy it.

Now, the long and short of it was after going through the material, I found that I already knew about 40% of it, and really should have been priced much lower.  Maybe the price was used to give a higher perceived value?  I very rarely do this (in fact this was the first time) but I got a refund.  Now, if it had been cheaper (I would have said $197 would be fair) and it didn’t have the over the top scarcity thing, I probably wouldn’t have asked for a refund.

Hi Gang

This might sound very obvious at first but it’s something I see people doing wring all the time. One of the quickest ways of making affiliate sales from a ClickBank type product is to make a review page reviewing 3 similar products. Each one is given a start rating for things like content, quality, value for money etc. You should have at least 3 products but I have seen some which have as many as 10, although I would recommend 7 at the most otherwise you give too many options.

Ok, so far so good, of course the idea is to sell the one at the top as people are taking your word that it’s the best. This is where people go horribly wrong…in the I only recommend high quality products, like the ones pictured here ;-)long run. Let me explain.

What 90% of newbies do is place the product at the number 1 spot because it gives the highest commission for the sale….this in my opinion is VERY wrong. It should have nothing (or very little) to do with the commission. Of course, you will still make some sales, but it will come back on you later when people buy something they are not happy with and wonder you recommended it. Your list will turn into a bog pile of sh1t.

Think of it this way, if there were 3 products a good friend or family member was considering buying, would you recommend something you know to be bad or you don’t even know if it is good or not? I hope you wouldn’t anyway. Remember, at the end of these transactions are real people spending their hard earned money based on your word. If they are happy with it then they will be happy with you and won’t think twice about buying in the future based on your say so.

I do understand that you have to consider the commission amount to outweigh advertising costs if you’re using PPC or whatever, but it shouldn’t be the factor which decides which you say is best. If you can get the product to read it from beginning then all the better (depending on your budget of course).

Cheers,
Phil

Find a hungry…and thirsty crowd!

posted by admin

The first thing I learnt about Internet Marketing if you want to make money is: “If you are selling chilled water in the Desert, then how good a salesperson do you really have to be?” It’s quite a powerful statement because many marketers make the mistake of picking a product first, and then go and try and find somebody to sell it to. This generally is doing things the wrong way round. Instead, you must find the crowd of people who have the problem first, and then find something (a product) that will solve their problem.Money Making Formulae

So with the example above, a guy speaks to some people in the desert who are thirsty and ASKS THEM “what is it that you want” and they tell him that they are thirsty and would like some water to drink. So the guy goes off and gets a product (bottled water for example) and then goes back to them and says “here you are”. You can guarantee they will buy it!! See the point? If instead you tried to guess what they want like…a chair or anti-aging cream or something, when you go back, you would have to try and CONVINCE them that the product you have will benefit them. Sorry, this probably sounds obvious but it is fundamental to selling people stuff online.

So later down the line when you look for your crowd, try to think about a hungry crowd, by hungry I mean either somebody who has a big problem which needs fixing or people that are fanatical about something. The example I normally use is this. Take two people; “somebody who has just lost their job” and “somebody who wants to buy a new plant for their garden” Which one do you think will be on the internet more and doing some searches? Hopefully you said the first one. Ok, how about “somebody who wants to buy a new tv” or “somebody who thinks their partner is cheating on them” Of course, I would say that its the second one. Can you see how in these cases, the person is THINKING about the issue MANY times in the day whereas the other examples would be thinking about it every so often?

This is what you need to keep in mind at all times when looking for your crowd of people to market to, if you take the time to do your research first and find people with money who are willing to buy something to solve their problem, then half the battle is already won.
